Reproduction Photography of fine art, it most times an art in itself. Photographic lighting for still photography is not nearly as forgiving as video. Still photography of fine art, paintings, sculpture or otherwise needs a practiced eye for how the light reacts with the art.
Accurately, capturing the paint colors, texture of the brush strokes and depth of the art; if it is a dimensional piece, are all very important to the artist. This is not a cookie-cutter photography. Lighting needs to be adjusted for most all pieces of art. Even if it seems like a tiny adjustment, sometimes that’s all it takes to capture the detail of a certain sculpture or painting. Lighting is essential to be even throughout the art, and other tools of the trade are used.
